How to Install Greenfoot IDE on Raspberry Pi?

GreenFoot is a free and open-source Java programming IDE that features interactive learning and teaching of Java with a visual representation of code lines. It is an educational tool which makes coding fun for learners. The IDE is designed to be as simple as possible with a drag-and-drop interface and a new learner can easily learn to use this tool within a few minutes.

How to Install Greenfoot IDE on Raspberry Pi?

The Raspberry Pi users can easily install Greenfoot IDE on the Raspberry Pi system by following the below-mentioned steps:

Step 1: From the Application Menu, go to Preferences and click on Add/Remove Software:

Step 2: Then in the search box, type greenfoot.

Step 3: Select the Greenfoot bundle that appears on the screen, and click Apply:

Step 4: Then an authentication dialogue box will appear on the screen, enter the system’s username and password here:

Step 5: Then click OK to close the dialogue box:

After authentication, it will automatically start searching and installing the Greenfoot package:

Step 6: After a few minutes the package will install and you can open the Greenfoot IDE from the Programming option of the Application Menu:

Remove Greenfoot IDE from the Raspberry Pi

If after installing, you want to remove Greenfoot IDE from Raspberry Pi, then go back to the Add/Remove Software option and right-click on the package, select the Remove Package option.

After clicking on Remove Package, click on Apply to start the removal process:

An Additional confirmation prompt will appear on the screen click Continue here to completely remove Greenfoot IDE from the Raspberry Pi system:

Lastly, enter the password for authentication and click OK:

Then wait for a few minutes till it completely removes the Greenfoot IDE package:

Greenfoot IDE can be installed on Raspberry Pi from the Add/Remove Software option where you can search for the IDE to install it on the system.
