How To Charge Laptop With HDMI

Having low on battery while working on some crucial tasks can be frustrating as it becomes more upsetting if you find that your laptop charger is either not working or you are unable to find it. In such situations there are some ways through which you can charge your laptopfor temporary purposes. I have explained the process of charging the laptop using the HDMI cable.

Charging a laptop using HDMI

Charging of the laptop is one of the most crucial aspects especially for the ones who use laptops on standalone mode. However, there are times when you need to charge your laptop and you are unable to charge it from your charger and there could be many reasons for it. So, there are other ways to charge your laptop one of which is charging your laptop through HDMI and there are the two ways of doing that:

Charging the laptop using HDMI to HDMI Cable

This method is only feasible if you have the HDMI port on your laptop and your TV also supports the HDMI port. So, connect one end of the HDMI cable with the laptop and the other end to the TV. Now see if your charging light is on and if not then check your connections from both ends and do not forget to turn on your TV. Remember this charging process is quite slow so do not expect a higher charging rate, moreover, this a temporary solution. If you want to buy an HDMI to HDMI cable then visit here.

Charging the laptop using HDMI to Type C Cable

The laptop manufacturers nowadays are more inclined towards light weight and slim designs of the laptop and to achieve this they are sacrificing the number of ports available on the laptops. So, if by any means your laptop does not have the HDMI ports then you need to have an HDMI to Type C or Type B adapter and this situation is mostly faced in the Apple laptops.

Once you have a suitable adaptor just connect the one end of the cable to your TV and the other converted side to your laptop. Now Check if your charging light is on and if not check your connections or try re-plugging the cable into the ports.

Points to remember while charging your laptop using the HDMI

Since this method is for temporary usage so remember the following points while using this approach:

  • Charging can be extremely slow
  • Using this method for longer periods can damage the laptop
  • There could be issue in charging if the voltage is low

Conclusion

Unable to find the charger or getting to know that the charger is faulty at the eleventh hour can be a lot frustrating especially if you are stuck at something while working. However, there are some other temporary ways by which you can charge your laptop, one of which is by using the HDMI cable.
