There are several ways to bring our laptop back to life without the charger for our usage. In this guide we will find out the methods to charge our laptop in case we forgot charger at home:

Methods to Charge your Laptop Without the Original Charger

Following are the ways by which we can charge our laptop, some are listed below:

  1. Power bank backup
  2. Through universal adapter
  3. Through a car battery
  4. With an extra battery
  5. Through Type-C Adapter
  6. Through mobile phones

Power Bank Backup

The easiest and simplest way to charge the laptop without a charger is to charge it with a power bank. Power banks are portable and are plug-and-play devices that come in a variety of shapes and power storage capacities to charge your laptop twice or thrice. The key is to keep a power bank with you according to your laptop and its voltage requirements.

Through Universal Adapter

Universal adapters can charge all laptops, it doesn’t matter what’s the model or how old the laptop is. Usually, if the laptop is old enough that its charger is not available on the market, it can be charged with a universal adapter. It has multiple charging tips that can charge almost every laptop of this decade and operates the same as the original charger.

Through a Car Battery

Laptops can be charged with a car battery also. Being on a long road trip, we can still charge our laptop using a power inverter. A power inverter can easily be plugged into the cigarette lighter socket in a car. It provides up to 300 watts of power and is ideal for your laptop i.e., the laptop can also be used while charging. An AC adapter can also be used to charge the laptop, simply plug the Type-A side of a C-Type charger in the cigarette lighter socket and attach the Type-C side to the laptop. This way is preferred to charge laptops with a car battery.

With an Extra Battery

Every laptop company sells their spare parts too, batteries can also be purchased so an extra battery can be kept along. The extra battery can be used when the main battery goes down. So, nothing to worry about if you forget the laptop charger, this method can also be used without any damage.

Through USB Type-C Adapter

Nowadays in many laptops along with basic Type-A ports that are used to transfer data and charge small devices, there is a Type-C port also present. It is very short in size and has an oval-shaped micro-USB connector. This port supports input too. A laptop can be charged with a standard brand phone charger from this port. Just connect the Type-C cable with a power bank or plug the whole Type-C charger in a socket to charge your laptop.

Through Mobile Phones

It’s the least effective method and is only preferred to be used in case of any emergency case. Phones can also be used as a power bank and can supply their power to the laptop. That power will not be enough to make your laptop last longer, the laptop can’t be used while charging and the charging process will be comparatively slow to the above-mentioned methods but yes, the laptop can be charged.

Conclusion

Laptops can be charged even if we forget the charger at home while going out, through all these methods but still the perfect and preferred way to charge a laptop is through its original charger. The original charger is the most compatible, comes with a fast speed and prevents any damage, and never over-charges the battery. In case we lose the charger, or it’s broken, then we may use these steps to charge our laptop. The safest method among them is to keep an external battery with its corresponding charger.
