How to Install VeraCrypt on Linux Mint 21

Encrypting the sensitive data is one way to keep it secure as the encrypted data is hard to retrieve by hackers. Moreover, developers these days encrypt their data as they are working on developing different applications so the data might not get leaked. There are many open-source applications available online that can encrypt your data but as always not all are efficient.

However, VeraCrypt is one of the best choices when it comes to encrypting the data especially for Linux systems; it is also available on other platforms. So, if you need encryption software for your Linux Mint 21 system then try installing VeraCrypt and for that read this guide.

Step 2: Next, update the packages list so that this repository can be added to the default package manager using:

$ sudo apt update

Step 3: Now install the VeraCrypt on your Linux Mint using the default package manager:

$ sudo apt install veracrypt -y

Step 4: Next to see if the application is correctly installed check its version using:

$ veracrypt --version

To remove this encryption software uninstall it by using the same default package manager:

$ sudo apt remove --autoremove veracrypt -y

Installing VeraCrypt through deb File

Step 2: Next select Create an encrypted file container that will create an encrypted disk in a file:

Step 3: Now select the type of volume and select Standard VeraCrypt volume in case you need normal encryption, you can also go for the other one depending on your preference:
