How to Install Microsoft Edge on Linux Mint 21

Just like Chrome, Microsoft Edge is also an open-source, cross-platform Chromium-based browser developed by Microsoft. Step 1: Run the mentioned command to refresh all the system packages:

$ sudo apt update

Step 2: Install all the required Microsoft Edge’s dependencies from following command:

$ sudo apt install software-properties-common apt-transport-https wget ca-certificates gnupg2

Microsoft Edge is not present by default on the base repository of Linux Mint 21. So, you have to add the Microsoft Edge repository to the system repository through the following command:

$ echo ‘deb [arch=amd64 signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/Microsoft-edge.gpg] <a href="https://packages.microsoft.com/repos/edge">https://packages.microsoft.com/repos/edge</a> stable main’ | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/microsoft-edge.list

In the next step, add the repository GPG key through the following command for a secure installation:

$ curl -fsSl <a href="https://packages.microsoft.com/keys/microsoft.asc">https://packages.microsoft.com/keys/microsoft.asc</a> | gpg --dearmor | sudo tee /usr/share/keyrings/Microsoft-edge.gpg > /dev/null

Run the following command to update Linux Mint repository:

$ sudo apt update

Now, you can execute the following command to install the Microsoft Edge on Linux Mint 21 system:

$ sudo apt install microsoft-edge-stable

To confirm the installation, type the version command in terminal:

$ microsoft-edge --version

Lunch it using the command mentioned below:

$ microsoft-edge

Remove Microsoft Edge from Linux Mint 21

To uninstall Microsoft Edge browser from the Linux Mint 21 system, the command is given:

$ sudo apt remove --autoremove microsoft-edge-stable
