Creating a Web App Using the Google Chrome Shortcut Feature
To create a web app using the shortcut feature of Google Chrome, open the Google Chrome and visit the website or web page from which you want to create a web app.
In this example, we create a web app of the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. The official website of the Merriam-Webster Dictionary is https://merriam-webster.com.
Once you visit the website or web page from which you want to create a web app using Google Chrome, click on ⋮ > More tools > Create shortcut… from the top-right corner of Google Chrome.
A “Create shortcut?” popup window should be displayed.
Type in a name for the web app[1].
By default, the web app opens in a new Google Chrome tab if you already have the Google Chrome open. If you want to open the web app in a new Google Chrome window instead, tick the “Open as window” checkbox[2].
Once you’re done, click on “Create[3]”.
The web app should be created.
Once the web app is created, you can search for it in the start menu and open it in the same way as any other app.
As you can see, the Merriam-Webster dictionary web app is running just like any other app.
Removing the Google Chrome Web Apps from Windows 11
To remove the Google Chrome web app from Windows 11, right-click on the start menu and click on “Installed apps”.
Search for the web app in the installed apps list[1].
Once you find it, click on ⋯ > Uninstall[2].
Click on “Uninstall”.
If you want to clear the data for the web app, tick the “Also clear data from Chrome” checkbox[1]. This is optional. You can either keep or clear the web app data.
Once you decide to keep or clear the web app data, click on “Remove[2]”.
The Google Chrome web app should be removed.
Removing the Google Chrome Web Apps from Windows 10
To remove the Google Chrome web app from Windows 10, right-click on the start menu and click on “Apps and Features”.
Search for the web app in the installed apps list[1].
Once you find it, click on it[2] and click “Uninstall[3]”.

To find the Google Chrome web app with the dictionary name (let’s say) in Ubuntu, run the following command:
The Google Chrome dictionary (let’s say) web app file should be listed. Copy the file path since you need it.
To read the contents of the Google Chrome dictionary (let’s say) web app file (the path that you copied earlier), run the following command:
