How to get Cobblestones in Minecraft
First, you need to find a place with stones and for that you need to explore caves, mountains, shores, and underground surfaces. The next thing you require is at least a wooden pickaxe to mine them. There are a variety of pickaxes available in the game such as stone, iron and diamond that are not only durable but also speed up the mining process, but wooden pickaxes will also be suitable for this job if you are a beginner. Pickaxe can be made by using 2 sticks and 3 wooden planks on the crafting table.
As you can see in the image below, after digging and mining the underground surface, I am able to find some blocks of stone.
When you mine these stones using a pickaxe, you will get some pieces of cobblestones where you need to collect at least 8 to make a furnace.

You can make a furnace by placing 8 cobblestones while leaving the center slot of the crafting table as shown below:

How to smelt using a Furnace in Minecraft
You will find many types of ores in the game such as copper ore, iron ore and golden ore. You can’t use them directly in their original form so what you can do is to smelt them using a furnace to make these items usable. Other than that, this process also requires a fuel source such as wooden-logs, planks and coal.
In the above image you can see that there are two slots on the left side where you need to place a fuel source on the bottom and the ore you want to smelt on the upper slot whereas the result can be seen on the slot which is on the right-side.
How to cook raw food using Furnace in Minecraft
You can get the raw food by killing birds and animals such as chicken and cows and then you can cook that meat using the furnace.
Conclusion
A furnace is one of the important blocks in the game that you can use to smelt the raw ores or cook the raw meat. This is very useful because the ores available in the game cannot be used directly and need smelting whereas the cooked meat will give you more health bar and replenish your energy level.
