You can’t get this block naturally with mining and requires additional steps for its crafting. Materials Required to make a Smooth Stone
The main item that you need for making the smooth stones are the cobblestone and to make one you need at least 3 cobblestones.
How to Make a Smooth Stone
First, you need to find the blocks of stone nearby which you can do either by mining underground, caves, and mountains and then you can mine them using any pickaxe.
You need at least a wooden pickaxe or any other of higher level for mining that will give you cobblestones. Now, you need to place these stones on the furnace with any fuel source that will provide you with a smooth stone.
Whereas you can make a furnace by placing 8 cobblestones on the crafting table.
Uses of Smooth Stone
Smooth stone can be used to make a smooth stone slab as well as the blast furnace that will be discussed in the next section.
How to Make a Smooth Stone Slab
Place 3 blocks of smooth stone on the crafting table that will give you 6 stone slabs as shown below.
There is another way to make a stone slab as well which is by using a stonecutter that can be found naturally in the village biome. If you are not able to find it then you can make that as well by placing 1 iron ingot and 3 pieces of stone as displayed below.
Whereas you can make an iron ingot by mining the iron ore first, and then later placing that on the furnace with a fuel source.
Now place the stone cutter on the ground and put the smooth in it that will give you a stone slab.
How to Make a Blast Furnace
You can make a blast furnace by placing 3 smooth stones, 1 furnace, and 4 iron ingots on the crafting table as shown below.
This works the same as the normal furnace, but its smelting speed is a lot faster than that.
