There are other tools like a pickaxe, which is used for the same purpose, but shovels do it faster when it comes to digging underground. There are a variety of shovels available in the game with significant advantages compared to others, but we are going to discuss the wooden and stone shovels in this article as they are ideally more suitable for beginners.

How to Make a Wooden Shovel

You can make a wooden shovel by placing 1 wooden plank and 2 sticks on the crafting table. Whereas to make a wooden plank you need to first find any tree and then you need to chop it either by using your hands or any axe that can speed up the process. Chopping a tree will give you a wooden log that you need to place on the crafting table which will give you 4 wooden planks.

Now place 2 of these planks again on the crafting table in the exact same order as shown below that will give you 4 sticks.

Now you can make a shovel easily by placing 1 wooden plank and 2 sticks on the crafting by following the same process as shown below.

How to Make Stone Shovel

You can make a stone shovel by placing a cobblestone and 2 wooden sticks on the crafting table. Whereas you need at least a wooden pickaxe for mining a cobblestone that you can make by placing 3 wooden planks and 2 sticks in the same way as mentioned below.

Now find the blocks of stones that are widely available inside the caves, tunnels and mountains and then you need to mine them that will give you cobblestones.

The durability of the Shovels

The durability of the wooden shovel is 59 whereas the durability of the stone shovel is 131 which means that wooden shovels can be able to dig 59 blocks and stone shovels can be able to dig 131 blocks without breaking.

Attack Damage of the Shovels

The attack damage of the wooden shovel is 2.5 whereas the attack damage of the stone shovel is 3.5 which means that the stone shovel can deal more damage to the mobs compared to the wooden shovel.

Speed of the Shovels

The digging speed for both wooden and stone shovels is the same which is 1 but the attack damage of stone shovels is more which means it digs in less time compared to the wooden shovel. For example, a wooden pickaxe can dig a block of sand in 0.4 seconds whereas a stone shovel can dig it in around 0.2 seconds.
