HTML Footer

“A footer on an HTML page is used to include additional information other than the main text of the web page. This information appears after the main text, usually at the bottom of the page. By using this information, you can clear all the confusions that you might have after going through the main text of the web page. This article will help you out in creating footers in HTML.”

What can be Included in the HTML Footer?

The HTML footer can include the following elements:

  • Contact Information
  • Email Address
  • Privacy Policy
  • Link to the About Page
  • Team Information
  • Link to the Careers Page
  • Author Information

These are just some of the elements that can be included in the HTML footer; however, you can have any information of your choice that you want to be as a part of your HTML footer.

How to Create a Footer in HTML?

To create a footer in HTML, you need to consider the following two examples:

Example 1: Creating a Simple Footer in HTML

In this example, we will just share with you the basic method of creating a footer in HTML. This footer will appear as it is on the web page, i.e., there will be no content other than the footer on this web page. Moreover, this footer will simply contain the name of an author followed by his email ID. The HTML script that we have written for this purpose is shown in the image below:

The footer element of HTML can be inserted into an HTML script simply by using the “footer” tag. Inside this tag, you can mention everything that you want to appear in your footer. We wanted the author’s name and his email ID to appear in the footer. Therefore, we have simply mentioned the name of the author followed by the “href” tag for mentioning his email ID.

Now, when we executed this HTML script with Google Chrome, our newly designed footer appeared on the web page, as shown in the following image:

Example 2: Inserting the HTML Footer Into an Article

Now, we will take our first example a step further by inserting the HTML footer into an actual article so that you can truly understand the purpose of the HTML footer. For this purpose, we have designed the HTML script shown below:

In this HTML script, we have written a random article on the tips for becoming a good content writer. We have written this article by enclosing it within the “article” tag of HTML. Since we wanted to write these tips in the form of points, therefore, we have made use of the “li” i.e., the list tag of HTML. Then, we have a footer that tells us the name of the author as well as the year of publishing this article. Moreover, we have also added a copyright sign to this footer.

You can see the web page associated with this HTML script in the following image. Now, you can witness how appealing our article looks in proper formatting with the right-footer in place.
