Faenza Icons – Change Your GNOME Theme to A Chromatic Look


Ubuntu 20.04 and 20.10 come with a stunning interface and beautiful icon sets. But, sometimes a change is required to suit your desired workspace. Ubuntu is an open-source operating system that allows you to change the entire appearance of the desktop environment, including icons. This guide shows you how to change the theme of icons in Ubuntu.

Faenza is one of the most popular GNOME icon themes, and it includes four themes to provide both light and dark looks for the desktop, as well as various icon sets for panels, toolbars, buttons, applications, and folders.

This article shows you how to install and apply the Faenza Icon theme in Ubuntu.

Installing the Faenza Icon Theme in Ubuntu 20.04 (LTS) & 20.10

A tweak tool is required to customize the appearance of Ubuntu. So, install the Gnome Tweak Tool using the following command:

$ sudo apt install gnome-tweak-tool

Gnome Tweak Tool can be viewed in Applications once it has been downloaded:

Now, to install the Faenza Icon Theme, use the following command:

$ sudo apt install faenza-icon-theme

To apply this theme, open the Gnome Tweak Tool, and click on Appearance:

In the Appearance tab, click the Icons drop-down menu, and all Faenza Icon sets can be viewed in the menu that appears:

Select any theme you would like and the icons theme will be changed immediately:
