To add a new author, move your mouse cursor over the Users option in the WordPress dashboard left menu, then press the Add New option as shown in the image below (Users>Add New).
On the Add New User page, fill at least the required information to add a new user.
Select Author, select Author, then press the Add New User button to add the user on the Role dropdown menu.
After adding the user, you will be redirected to the user’s list to see the newly added user.
Now you can follow the steps described below to change the author of the WordPress posts.
Change the author of a post for another existing author:
To change the author of a post in WordPress, login to your dashboard and access the post or page whose author you want to replace. For example, to open a post, move your mouse pointer over the Posts option in the dashboard left menu, then press the All Posts option on the displayed submenu as shown in the screenshot below (Posts>All Posts).
A list of all posts will show up. Please move your mouse cursor over the post whose author you want to change to show the Edit button and press it.
On the post you want to edit, find the Status & Visibility option on the right menu shown in the screenshot below and press it to display available options.
Among the options, find the Author dropdown menu shown in the following image and select the new author for your post.
Then, press the Update button to finish changing the WordPress post author.

You also can change an author’s name or display name without replacing him.
To do it, on the dashboard left menu, move your mouse pointer over the Users option, and on the displayed submenu, press All Users as shown below (Users>All Users).
On the user’s list, move your mouse pointer over the user whose name you want to edit, and when shown up, press the Edit button.
You can edit the name and last name in the User screen and then choose from the Display name publicly as a display name dropdown menu.
After making the changes, press the Update User button to apply changes.
Now you can check the author name was successfully updated.
Change the author of all posts in WordPress:
You can also change the author of all or many posts from the WordPress dashboard at once.
To do it, move your mouse cursor over the Posts option on the left menu, then press the All Posts option as shown below (Posts>All Posts).
When the posts list shows up, if you want to change the author of all posts, mark the box next to Title to select them, as shown below. You also can mark the box for each post whose author you want to change.
Then, display the Bulk Actions dropdown menu and select the Edit option (Bulk Actions>Edit).
After selecting the Edit option, press the Apply button.
Press the Author dropdown menu to list available authors and select the new author for the previously selected posts on the next screen.
Save changes by pressing the Update button.
Now all posts you selected will show up with the new assigned author.
